ATLANTA - The State Board of Pardons and Paroles announced today that video recordings of its monthly Board meetings will now be made available utilizing the video-sharing website, YouTube. The recordings will be posted on the agency's website at the conclusion of every regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

In addition to now offering video recordings of its monthly meetings, the Parole Board also recently began conducting these meetings at off-site locations. In October 2014, the Board held its monthly meeting at Hays State Prison in Trion, Ga. and the January 2015 meeting was conducted at Columbus State University’s law enforcement Command College.

Posting videos of the monthly meetings on the agency website is another avenue the Parole Board is utilizing to further enhance public access to the Board and to promote continued agency transparency.

Regarding this new development, State Board of Pardons and Paroles Executive Director Michael Nail said, "This represents yet another step by the Board to ensure transparency in its operations and to demonstrate that they serve the entire state of Georgia, not just from Atlanta, but from within the community as well. This addition gives everyone the opportunity to witness the operations of the Board as they carry out their roles, duties and responsibilities."

Monthly Board meetings are scheduled for the first Tuesday of every month. The meetings begin at 10:00 a.m. and are open to the public. Please note that offender cases are not discussed or considered during these meetings.
