Atlanta, GA – The State Board of Pardons and Paroles has promoted Victoria Carter to Chief Parole Officer in Gainesville. Carter was promoted from the position of Assistant Chief Parole Officer in the Ellijay Parole Office.

Carter began her career with the State Board of Pardons and Paroles in 2006 as a Parole Officer in the Gainesville Parole Office. As a Parole Officer, Carter became an MRT (moral reconation therapy) Instructor and she’s served on the arrest team.  She also serves as the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (GAICAC) Task Force Representative for the Northwest Region and she’s participated in several sex offender compliance checks conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service. 

In 2011, Carter was promoted to Specialized Parole Officer. As a Specialized Parole Officer, she was responsible for the supervision of high risk offenders which included sex offenders, offenders with a mental health diagnosis, and offenders supervised through electronic monitoring.  In 2013, Carter was promoted to Assistant Chief in the Ellijay Parole Office. 

Carter graduated from North Georgia College and State University in 2004 with a degree in Criminal Justice. She obtained a master’s degree, graduating summa cum laude from Kaplan University in 2009.  In May 2013, Carter completed the Parole Board’s Professional Skills and Leadership class.

Carter also serves as a mentor to at-risk youth through Center Point in Gainesville and volunteers one week each summer at Camp Braveheart.  Camp Braveheart is a bereavement camp in Gainesville focusing on helping children deal with loss.

    

Carter is a native of Blue Ridge, Georgia, and currently resides in Holly Springs, Georgia. Carter’s promotion becomes effective June 1, 2014.
