Atlanta, GA – The State Board of Pardons and Paroles has selected Tamara Stubbs as the agency’s Southwest Regional Director. In this role, Stubbs is responsible for the operations of nine of the state’s 41 parole offices including Albany, Americus, Cairo, Columbus, Cuthbert, LaGrange, Macon, Moultrie and Valdosta.

Stubbs began her career with the Board, in 1989, as a Parole Officer in Milledgeville. In 1996, she transferred to the Eatonton office.  She was promoted to Assistant Chief Parole Officer in the Macon Parole Office in December of 2006. In December of 2007, Stubbs was promoted to Chief Parole Officer in Macon. Under Stubbs’ leadership, the Macon Parole Office received the Department of Corrections’ Partner Agency of the Year Award in 2009, 2010, and 2011, as a result of her office’s partnership with the Macon Transitional Center.

In July of 2012, she was promoted to Program Manager over the development and implementation of the Max Out Re-Entry Program (M.O.R.E.), a program currently working to assist inmates transitioning from work release to the community.

During her career, Stubbs has supervised EM (electronic monitoring) and sex offender cases. From 2001 to 2012, she also served as a POST certified General Instructor to the Basic Parole Officer Training Classes and she continues to teach various classes for basic training and In-service training for parole employees. Stubbs has served on several project committees for the Board. 

Stubbs is a 2013 graduate of Parole’s Leadership Development Training Program and a 2014 graduate of the Corrections Leadership Institute.

A 1986 graduate of Adrian College, in Michigan, Stubbs holds a B.A. degree in Psychology.  She has been an active member of the Parole Association of Georgia since 1989.  She is an active member of her church and community in Milledgeville, Georgia. 

The appointment is effective April 1, 2014.
