Georgia Anti-Gang Network Meeting in Savannah
Georgia Parole Board Member Meg Heap and Executive Director Chris Barnett represented the State Board of Pardons and Paroles at the Georgia Anti-Gang Network meeting in Savannah. Heap thanked Attorney General Chris Carr for his leadership as the state continues efforts to eliminate criminal gang activity. “Bringing together law enforcement is resulting in stronger communication and can greatly enhance the amount of information we receive on offenders with gang ties,” said Heap. “The board is extremely interested in this information which is a factor when considering an offender’s parole. Gang members will find it harder to be paroled in Georgia,” she added.
Attorney General Carr noted the Parole Board has been a great partner in the network and the state’s efforts to combat gang activity. Barnett said the Parole Board's partnership with the Georgia Anti-Gang Network is enhancing public safety. "These regional meetings are benefitting the Board and the 'Informed decision-making process,’” said Barnett. “The Georgia Parole Board is enhancing public safety through informed, data-driven parole decisions,” he added.
