April 2022 State Agency Law Enforcement Meeting
The State Board of Pardons and Paroles joined other law enforcement agencies in Glennville. The traditional state agency meeting takes place at the National Guard Armory. Parole Board Chairman Terry Barnard gave an update informing the group that the Board’s parole success rate is approximately 74%, among the highest in the country and well above the national average. Barnard echoed the comments of other leaders who provided updates regarding their agencies. “Certainly, I agree with those who said Georgia’s law enforcement agencies have never worked closer together than they are right now,” Barnard said.
Barnard thanked specifically, the Department of Corrections and the Department of Community Supervision for the job they do in preparing offenders for reentry and for the daily supervision, both which contribute to the high parole success rate. Parole Board Vice Chair Jacqueline Bunn and members David Herring and Meg Heap also attended the meeting as did several of the parole leadership staff.
Executive Director Chris Barnett says the partnerships result in improved public safety. “Our agency continues to engage our law enforcement partners and other stakeholders. It is imperative that we do so to make our communities a safer place to work, live and raise a family,” Barnett said.
